APEX Training Group is owned and led by Nick Portugal, a Marine Corps veteran who built his expertise at the intersection of military discipline and ministry service.
Before launching APEX, Nick spent years building, growing, organizing, and training church security teams for a large multi-site church in South Florida serving approximately 5,000 congregants across three locations. That hands-on experience — protecting thousands of worshippers every Sunday — became the foundation for everything APEX delivers today.
Nick's mission is clear: to equip other churches with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to protect their members effectively. Through comprehensive firearms instruction, scenario-based training, and leadership development, APEX builds your team up for success.
Based in South Florida and serving ministries nationwide, APEX has grown from a local security consulting practice into a comprehensive training platform for churches, schools, and faith-based organizations.
